5 Months Old!

What a fun stage these babies are in!  They are smiley, active boys and don't seem to stop growing.
They interact with one another a lot now. When they're lying next to each other, they usually grab hands.  They suck on each others fingers--and sometimes toes :)
If one is crying during playtime, the other usually stops and looks at him like, "What, brother?"
Zachary's reflux seems to be calming down (that doesn't mean his spitting up has subsided...), which is great.  I've weaned him down to 1 dose of Zantac at night, and I hope to get him completely off at 6 months.  Interestingly enough, Benjamin has started to spit up now!  But at least he's not in pain.

They both love to stick their fingers in their mouths, as well as any other toy they can get their hands on. No teeth yet, but I'm thinking soon?  They drool like crazy!

We are on the same schedule as 4 months.  Still eating every 3 hours during the day.  They go to bed around 7:30/8, and they're waking up for the day anywhere btwn 7-8am.  I prefer 8 am, but sometimes, I get them up earlier if they won't go back to sleep.  Last night was the first night I didn't feed them at all!  They were up a few times in the middle of the night but went back to sleep... but they slept through the 4/5am feeding!  (and then Zachary was up and at 'em at 6:30...)  I'm hoping this is the start of a wonderful routine :)  But I don't really mind feeding them at 5am... I just don't think they'll need all those calories once they start to really eat solids.

Starting solids... we've been experimenting with oatmeal.  Benji loves it.  He knows to open his mouth and anticipate the bite.  Zachary gives me a look like, "You're putting that thing where?!"  When I can get the spoon in his mouth, he's pretty good at taking it, but he needs practice!  I'm not too worried about solids yet, but I was hoping they might fill their bellies and sleep through the night better.  We've only done 4 sessions, so we'll keep trying.  (I don't want to rush any stage, but I'm excited for when they start to really eat.  For some reason feeding a baby pureed food gives me that weird satisfaction feeling.  Wiping their mouth with the spoon, making sure they get every bite... I dunno.  I'm weird.)  We need to get highchairs, though!  Although the Bumbos and bouncy seats will work fine for awhile.  I'm thinking the plain white ones from Ikea... just because they won't take up too much space... but they aren't that good looking.  Still not sure.

They are very active--always rolling over.  Zachary is still trying to crawl, but he can't quite figure it out.  He instead does a worm kind of movement--pushing his face down into the ground and scooching his body forward or backward.  Funny to watch!  We got an exersaucer and a jumperoo for them, and they enjoy those for a bit.  The seats are a little big for them, though, so they seem to get uncomfortable.  I'm certain that in a month or so these things will keep them entertained for awhile.  Until then, they can last 5-10 minutes or so.

Benji weighed 16 lbs 10 oz (!!!) at a sick visit 2 weeks ago (turns out he may have allergies. sad).  I think Zachary probably weighs a little less.  Can't wait to see how long they are at their next appt!  They're growing like weeds!
