Trip to Houston

Hello, everyone!

I can't believe it's already July! Crazy. This summer is flying by. Before I know it, Andy will be off to Indonesia for 2 weeks :( I wish I could go with him and the CFTS team, but unfortunately it didn't work out with my work. Oh well. Anyway, last week Andy and I flew down to Houston to spend some time with my family. It was a nice trip down, even though it was stinking hot! SO humid. We had fun playing pool volleyball, watching the World Cup, playing Scrabble, seeing Toy Story 3 (again), and just relaxing with everyone. We were sad my older sister Caroline couldn't join us! Of course, I did some cooking and baking while we were there :) Last Friday night, my parents had some friends over for appetizers and dessert just to catch up and enjoy each others' company. My mom and I took care of the food. It was nice to mingle and enjoy good food! I'll show you some pictures of what we made below.

I hope everyone has a happy 4th of July! The Fourth is one of my favorite holidays... unfortunately I will be spending it at the hospital working overnight shifts this weekend! I hope I can at least peek out a window at some point and catch some fireworks. The 4th of July in Boston is truly an amazing experience. Picnicing all day along the Charles River, standing room only on Mass Ave, looking up over the water at the fireworks display, exploding to the beat of the Boston Pops playing in the Hatch Shell along the Esplanade... it's beautiful! I love Boston.

The following weekend Andy and I are heading down to Lon-g Islan-d (said with such accent) for one of Andy's stepbrother's wedding. We're excited to visit a part of the country we've never been! I'm planning on us driving to The Hamptons on friday or saturday to visit all of the little shops and food markets that Ina Garten (aka Barefoot Contessa) recommends in her cookbooks! I think it's supposed to be similar to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard. It should be fun. We'll post with pics from the wedding after that trip!

Love,
Emily

Ok, I'm trying to upload more pictures, but the uploader doesn't seem to be cooperating. There was also crab dip with crudites, goat cheese filled endvies, and baked brie with brown sugar and nuts. It was a lovely evening!
